Debmarine Namibia is on a journey to attain carbon neutrality by initiating projects that aim to remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and reduce our carbon footprint as much as possible.
As part of this journey, in 2022, solar energy installations have taken place at three of the company’s four land-based sites, namely Windhoek, Oranjemund, and Kerberhuk. With a target of 375.9kWp, the three sites account for a total capacity of 317kWp Tand the remaining 58.9kwp capacity is planned for completion in Q4 2023 in Luderitz. To date, total emissions of 153.941tCO2e have been avoided since commissioning.
Achieving carbon neutrality is an ongoing process which requires commitment and continuous effort. Regular monitoring and assessment of our emissions and offsetting efforts is important as it enables us to identify areas for improvement and to ensure we are making progress towards our carbon neutrality goals.
